Up until secondary three, Dario Alborino wanted to be an engineer. "I just
loved machines, gadgets, building things, and taking things apart to see how
they worked" he says. It was when he made a video project in his English
class did he discover film. From then on he constantly made videos, wrote
scripts, edited and involved himself in the process of filmmaking. By the time
he reached the middle of secondary four, he was sure of the fact that he wanted
to work in film or television.
Dario had a
great high school experience at Laurier Macdonald. He was in advanced classes,
and did fairly well like most of his classmates. He excelled in English and
Media Arts, where he could be creative, and was an active writer for Opus. He
graduated from Laurier Macdonald in 1995.
Today, he is
a freelance cameraman/editor, and thoroughly enjoys his work. He loves working
on different projects and working from home, which allows him to spend time
with his family. "Right now, I'm working as a cameraman, and
producer/editor for S'Cool, a news show that is written and produced by, for,
and about high-school students across Quebec. I love this project because
it gives me a chance to travel across Quebec and meet students from all
over" he says.
The best
advice he can give Laurier Macdonald students is to follow their heart.
"It may take a while for some people to really know what they want out of
life, but when it happens, you'll know. Wow... that's deep, man."
