Laurier Macdonald students Christina and Tonia Nucciarone, Georges Naoum, Michael Pelcar and Anthony Petracca along with Vice-Principal Dino Marzinotto were given the opportunity to participate in the Olympic Torch Relay on December 9th 2009 as part of GMAA Member Schools. The Olympic Torch Relay is a nation-wide event with various community celebrations as the Olympic Torch makes its way across the country to Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The Relay took place at the Olympic stadium and the students ran behind the torch bearers for about 2 kilometres. It was a once-in-lifetime opportunity for the participants and they were thrilled and honoured to have contributed to such a memorable event.
